Go to Edit > Free Transform, or press Cmd/Ctrl + T. Now we need to resize our sky overlay to fit our image. Make sure that your sky overlay is on top of your subject layer in the Layers panel. Once you have your sky overlay, open it in Photoshop and drag it onto your new layer. For this tutorial, we’ll be using a free one that we found on. You can find free sky overlays online, or you can purchase them. Next, drag your new layer underneath the image layer that contains your subject. Then, create a new layer by clicking on the New Layer icon at the bottom of the Layers panel. To do this, first open your image in Photoshop. In this case, we want to use it to reveal the sky behind the subject of our photo. A layer mask is simply a way to hide or reveal parts of a layer. There are a few ways to add a sky overlay in Photoshop, but one of the most common and easy ways is to use a layer mask.
